In the second innings of the third Test between England and Team India, the former side created pressure against the latter team. The hosts looked disciplined with the ball on the final day which pushed Shubman Gill’s team towards defeat. Until the tea session, India amassed 163/9 in their 70 overs. Ravindra Jadeja was the only mainstay batter who was putting up a fight against Ben Stokes and Co. In the pressure situation, the southpaw notched up his 26th Test fifty and proved why he is still a bankable player for the side in difficult circumstances.
However, just an over before the end of the second session, Jadeja was seen walking back to the dressing room. Commentators and spectators were intrigued to know why the 36-year-old left the field. However, it was later found out that the veteran India player went back to use the loo for the urination purpose.
England held their nerves and win the game by 22 runs
England dismissed India’s last man Mohammed Siraj, who got played on while defending a delivery from Shoaib Bashir. Jadeja was looking to hold his nerves and snatch the game from the home side. He built a 35-runs stand with Jasprit Bumrah for the ninth wicket to take the side close to the target. India got dismissed on 170 and Jadeja remained unbeaten with his score of 61 off 181.
However, it was England that held their nerves, came out victorious, and took a 2-1 lead in the series. The hosts dismissed both India tailenders to win the game. Both sides will next take on each other after nine days from July 23 in Greater Manchester. India will have to win both Tests to win a red-ball series on England’s soil after 18 years.
