After winning the Edgbaston Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 by a heavy margin, Team India couldn’t take the winning momentum ahead in the third Test played at the iconic Lord’s. Chasing 193 runs in the second innings, India couldn’t complete the chase as they fell 22 runs short. On the final day, England’s bowling attack showcased discipline and delivered early blows to the visitors to put them on backfoot. However, fighting spirit from Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah took India close to the target but eventually, the hosts held their nerves and bagged the triumph.
In the match, the best thing happened for India was star speedster Jasprit Bumrah’s form. The pacer showcased his bowling mettle and took seven wickets in the contest. In the first innings, he registered a fifer which included the crucial scalps of Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, and Joe Root. Noting Bumrah’s magnificent form, the media were keen to know about his availability in the next Test in Greater Manchester. After the third Test, Team India skipper Shubman Gill was asked about the 31-year-old’s availability but the former remained tight-lipped, saying, "You will get to know about it soon."
Shubman Gill commended the team effort
Gill, while discussing the close defeat, felt proud over the team effort. “Five days of hard-fought cricket and it comes down to the last session, last wicket. Tremendously proud of the effort,” he said. “I was pretty confident about the chase, especially with plenty of batting left. But England kept attacking and we couldn’t string together a couple of 50-run partnerships in the top order,” added Gill
Shubman Gill, who scored a double ton and century against England at Edgbaston, couldn’t do wonders with his bat at Lord’s. The 25-year-old recorded the figures of 16 and six from his bat.
