On Sunday, July 6, the Indian cricket team etched history as they defeated England at their own den at Edgbaston, Birmingham to level the five-match Test series 1-1. Coming into the second Test on the back of a five-wicket defeat in Leeds, the Shubman Gill & Co. did not let the loss affect them and played with grit and determination to level it before traveling to Lord’s for the third Test.

After being put to bat first by the hosts, India posted 587 runs, courtesy a double century from Shubman Gill and 80-plus knocks from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja. Thereafter, in absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj took up in the first England innings, picking a six-fer, thus restricting the Ben Stokes-led side to 407. Once again coming to bat, India added 427 runs to their earlier lead of 180 and posted a mammoth target of 608.

English fan sings “bowling England out Akash Deep” after Edgbaston heroics; goes viral

This time, it was Akash Deep, who completed a six-wicket haul, whereas Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar picked a wicket each. With a six-fer, Akash Deep completed 10 wickets in a Test, etching new feats. Seeing him star with the ball, he received a heartwarming tribute by an English fan, who dedicated a song to the Indian pacer.

Standing outside the stadium, the fan sang to the tune of ‘Let it be’ by The Beatles, acknowledging Deep’s heroics with the ball. With the video going viral on social media, the lyrics read, “Akash Deep, Akash Deep, Akash deep, Akash Deep, bowling England out Akash Deep”.

It to be noted that Akash Deep replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the India XI for the second Test. With disciplined bowling, Deep created pressure and supple wrists, he finished with 10 wickets in the Edgbaston Test. With figures of 4/88 and 6/99 in the two innings, he also etched his name in history books, becoming only the second Indian bowler in 93 years to take a 10-wicket haul in Test match in England.
