Days after Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) granted No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to Prithvi Shaw, the 25-year-old batter has finally completed his move to Maharashtra. Last month, reports flooded social media of Shaw leaving MCA in order to revive his cricketing career. However, days later, he was finally granted NOC.
Abhay Hadap, the MCA Secretary confirmed Shaw’s NOC as he stated, “Prithvi Shaw has been exceptional talent and has contributed significantly to Mumbai cricket. We respect his decision and wish him the very best in his future endeavours. MCA acknowledges and appreciates Prithvi’s contributions over the years and extends best wishes for his continued success.”
Prithvi Shaw joins Maharashtra ahead of 2025-26 domestic season
In a letter, Maharashtra Cricket Association confirmed the inclusion of Prithvi Shaw ahead of the upcoming domestic season. Confirming this move, MCA President, Rohit Pawar expressed excitement on Shaw’s inclusion as he said, “We are delighted to welcome a player of Prithvi Shaw’s calibre to the Maharashtra team. His inclusion adds tremendous strength to an already talented squad.”
Shaw also opened up on this move, stating, “At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricketer. .. I’m confident that being part of such a progressively setup will positively impact my journey as a cricketer.” He also expressed excitement to join the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rahul Tripathi, Mukesh Choudhary, among others in the side.
It is to be noted that Shaw has represented India in all three formats - Tests, ODIs and T20Is. He played five Tests, six ODIs and a T20I for India and has been out of the national side from last two years. Shaw also went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction in Saudi Arabia in November 2024.
