The 27-year-old Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres has been the main man for Sporting Club Portugal, leading them in Portuguese League win this season. He has scored a total of 97 goals in 102 appearances across the two seasons. He was the leading goal-scorer for the team in both their title winning seasons. However, latest reports suggest that Gyokeres wants to leave Sporting CP and is searching for options. Arsenal, who are looking for options in order to strengthen their attacking line, Viktor Gyokeres is one candidate who seems to fit the profile of the Gunners
According to Fabrizio Romano, Gyökeres has agreed to give up €2m from his salary trying to facilitate negotiations between Arsenal and Sporting. However, Sporting are still trying to sell him on a higher fee compared to the offer which was made by Arsenal. It is clear that Viktor Gyokeres does not want to continue being a part of Sporting and is trying his best by lowering his salary to make a move to Arsenal in this transfer window.
Gyokeres close to joining Arsenal squad: Reports
Arsenal have started the transfer window on a strong note by making crucial signings. They have made the signing of Martin Zubimendoi from Real Sociedad, Christian Norgaard from Brentford & Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. These players will make it difficult for the other players to get into the playing 11, which will boost the competitiveness in the team.
A major problem for Arsenal last season was not being able to convert all their chances into goals and adding a top finisher like Viktor Gyokeres to the team will make them tough contenders to win the league in the upcoming season. Despite links of Manchester United aiming for Gyokeres, it seems that the Swedish international is really keen on joining Arsenal and playing under Mikel Arteta. It will be interesting to see what happens next in this transfer saga.
