Prithvi Shaw’s eight-year journey at Mumbai comes to an end after he has decided to join Maharashtra ahead of the upcoming domestic season. The Indian opener is looking forward to a new chapter in life at the Maharashtra team. Shaw has been facing a lot of mental and physical challenges in the recent years, he is looking to make a comeback with his performances and prove his worth to his new team. He was dropped from Mumbai’s squad in the Ranji Trophy after just Two matches in the previous campaign due to his fitness issues.

Prithvi Shaw has played for India in five Tests, six ODIs, and one T20I. His career has been deeply impacted by recurring concerns about his fitness and discipline which proved very costly for him as he remained unsold for the IPL 2025. However his capabilities can never be questioned as under his captaincy, India won the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2018. By joining the Maharashtra team Prithvi Shaw is expected to set a new benchmark and inspire the next generation of cricketers in the region of Maharashtra.

When asked about joining the Maharashtra team, Prithvi Shaw said that he thinks that this move will help him to grow more as a cricketer. He also stated that Maharashtra Cricket Association has made remarkable efforts in recent years to enhance cricketing infrastructure across the state. Initiatives like the Maharashtra Premier League, Women's MPL, Corporate Shield, and D.B. Deodhar Tournament is a testament to their vision. "I'm confident that being part of such a progressive setup will positively impact my journey as a cricketer," Shaw said.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Mumbai team for the opportunities and support given to him over the years. Shaw is eager to make a comeback in the Indian national cricket team and for this comeback he will need to perform immensely well at the domestic level for his new team. In this way he will be able to make a comeback stronger than his setback.
