In the third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2024-25, England bagged a 22-run win and gained a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Following the score of 193, India were required to bat with discipline on the fifth day after losing four wickets at a score of 58. After Jofra Archer picking up dangerous Rishabh Pant, the hosts needed to remove KL Rahul, who was settled at the crease. England skipper Ben Stokes stepped up in the crucial stage of the match and dismissed Rahul, who was dismissed after scoring 39 off 58. Rahul was Stokes’ second hunt as he also got rid of Akash Deep on the fourth day.
Stokes again struck India, when both Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah were looking to stabilise India’s innings, he emerged into the scene and got the tailender caught. Following Bumrah’s dismissal, there was huge responsibility on Mohammed Siraj to support Jadeja in the middle but Shoaib Bashir ended his innings. Stokes ended his spell with 3/48 figures in his 14 overs. Stokes' performance also made him the Player of the Match (POTM).

Stokes made a vital contribution with the ball in the first innings as well. He got the better of Karun Nair, who was looking in fine touch with his bat. After Nair, Nitish Kumar Reddy became his victim. Stokes led the side from the front in this game. He looked fine with his bat as well.
In the first innings, he played a 44-run innings while in the second innings, he scored 33. He will look to carry his decent form ahead in the fourth Test, which will be played in Greater Manchester from July 23. England will now look to win the fourth Test to shatter India’s dream of winning a Test series on English soil after 18 years.
