After Chelsea, the Blues that beat Paris Saint-Germain- Arsenal by 3-0 in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday, former England batsman Kevin Pietersen shared a mocking post on Arsenal. After Cole Palmer netted twice and Joao Pedro contributed with another goal, Kevin Pietersen took to X to post a light-hearted dig at Arsenal. “Imagine that feeling of continuing to win football trophies. I mean, 2 of them in a couple of months. Maybe @ChelseaFC should lend @Arsenal one for a few weeks, to show them what winning looks like,” he posted. His quip underscores Arsenal’s ongoing trophy drought, with their last major success being the 2020 FA Cup victory."
Chelsea, who weren't impressive throughout the tournament, shocked Arsenal by clinching the FIFA 2025 Club World Cup title. The Blues put on a commanding display against PSG in the final, netting three unanswered goals to secure the trophy. Cole Palmer struck twice, while Joao Pedro added another to seal the win. It’s also worth highlighting that earlier, in May 2025, Chelsea had rallied from behind to overpower Real Betis 4-1 in the UEFA Conference League final.
We set the tempo, and we were good to press them: Chelsea Manager Enzo Maresca after winnning the final against PSG
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca asserted that his side effectively secured the match within the opening 10 minutes against Paris Saint-Germain. He emphasized how Chelsea’s ability to dictate the pace and apply early pressure played a crucial role in their victory. Speaking to DAZN, Maresca remarked, “For me, we won the game in the first 10 minutes. We set the tempo and were very good at pressing them. The conditions made it tough to maintain that intensity, but the boys did well.”
Coming back to Pietersen, he said Chelsea is his favourite, and all players are his good friends. In many cases, he has openly expressed his affection for Chelsea many times and frequently engages in playful banter with supporters of rival clubs on social media."Chelsea is my team. I am good friends with many players in Chelsea, including Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and John Terry. I live in Chelsea and train there too. "I also underwent rehabilitation in Chelsea when I had my Achilles tendon injury," Pietersen said to The New Indian Express.
