On Sunday, July 6, India defeated England by a massive margin of 336 runs at Edgbaston in Birmingham to level the series 1-1 with three more Test matches remaining. On the back of twin centuries from the skipper, Shubman Gill followed by six-wicket hauls from Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep in the two innings respectively, India restricted the hosts to take a considerable lead.

With a win, India also registered their first-ever win at Edgbaston. It has to be seen that in the previous eight matches at this venue, India didn’t have a single win, but finally broke the jinx on Sunday. While Team India reined at Edgbaston, England too had their moments as Harry Brook and Jamie Smith, both played century knocks in the first innings, but none of the English batters could help chase the mammoth target.

Ben Stokes shares big update on Jofra Archer’s participation in third Test at Lord’s

With the England bowling lineup struggling to take wickets at key intervals, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced 16-member squad for the third Test, which saw Gus Atkinson return after recovering from a hamstring injury. With another pacer in the lineup now, England will have a lot to ponder upon. But ahead of the upcoming Test, the English skipper was asked if Archer will mark his return in the Lord’s Test.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Stokes shared a big update, stating, “That'll be a decision we have to make, seeing how everyone comes together. We’ve had him here this week to get around the group and build him up with his workloads and everything. So, everyone’s being considered for the game at Lord’s.” It is to be noted that Archer was part of the squad for the second Test but wasn’t selected in the XI.
