With the Wimbledon 2025 nearing its penultimate stage, earlier this week, World No. 4, Jasmine Paolini was handed a massive setback as she bowed out of the grass-court Grand Slam tournament. The 29-year-old Italian international was ousted by Kamilla Rakhimova 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in a game that lasted for two hours and 20 minutes.

While it was a shocking exit for the Italian number four, days later, she decided to split with coach Marc Lopez. The 29-year-old was working with Lopez since April after she ended her decade-long partnership with Renzo Furlan.

Jasmine Paolini parts way with coach Marc Lopez

Taking to social media, the Italian wrote a long post, honouring Lopez. "Thank you, Marc. I want to say thank you to Marc Lopez for his help and support this season. We had some great results together, especially in Rome and Paris,” she began. “I appreciate all the hard work and energy Marc gave every day. Now that this part of the season is over, I've decided to make a change. I've learned a lot and made good progress. And now I'm taking the time to reflect on what the next step will be. Thank you again, Marc, for everything” she added.

It is to be noted that under Lopez’s coaching, Paolini won her second WTA 1000 title at the Italian Open. She also lifted the women’s doubles title last month at the French Open. Notably, Paolini has had a mixed campaign as after reaching the finals of French Open and Wimbledon last year, she hasn’t advanced to the quarter-finals in any of the last four Grand Slams, apart from the doubles win at Roland Garros.
