Team India looked sensational in the second Test, played at Edgbaston and thrashed England by a humongous margin of 336 runs. Captain Shubman Gill led the side from the front and produced the knocks of 269 and 161. His knocks, accompanied by bowling performances from Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep, helped India to win their maiden Test at Edgbaston and level the series.
With the series taking an intriguing turn with India’s colossal win, eyes are set on Gill and his men as Team India supporters are expecting them to beat England in the third Test, set to be played at the iconic Lord’s and take a 2-1 lead in the series. Before entering the third Test at Lord’s, India will look to drop underperforming players from the 11-member squad to get effective results. With the third Test less than 24 hours away, SportsTiger has predicted India’s 11-member squad for the match.
Here is India’s probable XI against England for the third Test at Lord’s:
Openers: Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul
Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul have done their jobs as an opening pair brilliantly. Both have produced quality innings in the series so far and they will be expected to do the same in the third match as well.
Middle-order batters: Karun Nair, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant
Karun Nair hasn’t been impactful for Team India so far in the tournament. In four innings of two games, he has scored only 77 runs. Gill, who has looked stunning with his bat in this series, will look to continue his batting form. Rishabh Pant will be expected to solidify the middle-order in the game to be played at the iconic venue.
All-rounders: Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Washington Sundar
Ravindra Jadeja produced fifties from his bat in both innings of the second Test but he will have to be at his best with the ball, as well. Nitish Kumar Reddy might get another opportunity despite failing to be decent in Birmingham and this time, he will have to prove himself as he hasn’t delivered anything solid to the side after his maiden international ton against Australia in Melbourne. Washington Sundar did a fine job for Team India at Edgbaston and his endeavours will be to be better at Lord’s.
Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep
Jasprit Bumrah is highly likely to spearhead India’s fast-bowling unit and he will expect Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep to assist him to trouble England’s batting attack. Prasidh Krishna, who looked horrendous with the ball in the two games, might be dropped with Bumrah’s entry in the 11-member squad.
