Carlos Alcaraz, the Spanish tennis superstar, defeated Cameron Norrie of Great Britain in straight sets 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 in the men’s singles quarter-finals match at Wimbledon 2025, to make the final four of the tournament. During this one-sided contest, the thousands in attendance at the Centre Court in SW19, London, got to witness the best of Carlos Alcaraz, including an exhibition of his trademark drop shot, which was exceptionally executed by him with great deception, catching his opponent off guard.

At different stages of the quarter-finals match against Cameron Norrie at Wimbledon, second seed Carlos Alcaraz brought out the drop shot, striking the ball with soft hands and impressive racket control, to ensure that his opponent wasn’t able to catch up with the ball while being stranded behind the baseline. Alcaraz asserted dominance over Norrie not only with his drop shot, but also an all around game of quality first serve, decent returns, and a plethora of other kinds of winners.

I'm really happy. To play another Wimbledon semi-final is super special: Carlos Alcaraz

The reigning two-time Wimbledon champion is now just two matches away from a historic three peat at the third Grand Slam of the year, and arguably the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world. After disposing off Cameron Norrie, Carlos Alcaraz is set to take on the fifth seed Taylor Fritz of the USA in the semi-finals of the tournament on Friday, July 11, which is expected to be a mouthwatering clash.

Taylor Fritz had defeated Russian Karen Khachanov in four sets 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(7-4), to make the final four of Wimbledon, and he is pursuing his first-ever Grand Slam title. As far as Carlos Alcaraz is concerned, the Spaniard has already won five Grand Slam titles, and he is tipped to win many more over the next decade or so, especially alongside world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, who is top seed at Wimbledon this year.

In his post-match interview after defeating Cameron Norrie, Carlos Alcaraz was quoted as saying, as per BBC Sport, “I'm really happy. To play another Wimbledon semi-final is super special. My confidence is really high, I'm feeling great. It was my best match so far in the tournament.”
