Team India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant has disclosed why he remains active with words behind the stumps. It’s been witnessed several times that Pant engages in fun banter with the opponents and his own teammates as well. His chat with Pat Cummins and Tim Paine in recent years has remained in Team India supporters’ memories until now. Besides banter with opponents, the 27-year-old also has a tendency to deliver one-liners to his teammates. With Team India heading to take England in the third Test to be played at the iconic Lord’s, Pant appeared in front of the media and revealed that he learnt the habit of talking behind the stumps from his late childhood coach Tarak Sinha. He also said that this habit helps him.

“My coach late Tarak Sinha taught me to keep talking to yourself. That’s what I have been doing since childhood; it helps me a lot," remarked Pant. The stumper-batter also disclose how Team India extracted victory in Edgbaston in star pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s unavailability. He added, "When you have good camaraderie off the field, communication is better on the ground. Jasprit Bumrah was not playing but Siraj and Akash Deep stood up."
