Ravindra Jadeja and Sai Sudharsan showed brilliant fielding display as Prasidh Krishna got a wicket on Jamie Smith on day three of the ongoing first Test between England and India at Headingley. After a 73-run partnership with Harry Brook, Smith attempted a big shot against Krishna during the second session of the third day. However, the English batter couldn’t time the ball well as Jadeja was present deep square leg boundary to take a catch.
While taking the catch, Ravindra Jadeja lost his balance and went past the boundary line. However, he threw the ball in the air on time and Sai Sudharsan was present behind to complete the catch as India got a big wicket of Jamie Smith at a crucial moment. Smith got out after scoring 40 runs off 52 balls hitting five fours and a six at the score of 349 runs.
Harry Brook departs at 99 as England nearing India’s 1st innings total
Talking about the match, in reply to India’s first innings total of 471 runs, England got a great start in the second innings as the hosts were looking comfortable to get near India’s total with Ollie Pope scoring 106(147) runs. However, India took some big wickets of English skipper Ben Stokes, Pope and Jamie Smith. However, Harry Brook turned out to be a star for England on day three but failed to reach his hundred by just one runs.
Batting on 99 runs, Brook attempted a pull shot against Prasidh Krishna but couldn’t time it well as Shardul Thakur was present near the boundary to take a catch. England lost their seventh wicket at the score of 298 runs. Brook got out at 99(112) runs hitting 11 fours and two sixes. However, England have crossed 400 runs as nearing India’s first innings total.
