She also clarified on the question of whether there was a possibility of them dating. Esha said that it probably could have happened, but things fizzled out quickly. Esha Gupta on Hardik Pandya's Koffee with Karan controversy

In the conversation, Esha also brought up that time when Hardik was involved in a controversy over his comments on the show Koffee with Karan, where many people vehemently opposed his statement. Esha was one of the very few celebrities who publicly criticised the episode for its misogynistic tone. However, now when she was asked about the controversy she said that she has nothing more to say on that matter. Esha said, “ That part didn’t affect me, because by that time we had already stopped talking.”

In 2019, Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul appeared on the show Koffee with Karan. They talked about their relationships, crushes, favourite movies, actors and actresses. While Rahul chose his words carefully and kept a level head on his shoulders while talking to Karan Johar. Hardik Pandya boasted about his alleged rumours of being with multiple women and how open he is with his parents. This controversy led to many celebrities criticising his remarks and it even led to him being replaced by Tamil Nadu all-rounder Vijay Shankar for the then ODI series in Australia and Indian team’s limited overs tour of New Zealand later that year. The duo was also slammed by many former cricketers including Sunil Gavaskar and Harbhajan Singh.
