During the morning session on day three of the first Test match between England and India at Headingley in Leeds, Rishabh Pant, the Indian wicket-keeper batter, lost his cool on on-field umpire Paul Reiffel from Australia. The incident happened when Rishabh Pant wanted Paul Reiffel to change the ball, deeming it out of shape, but when the on-field umpire put the ball in the measuring gauge, he determined it to be completely fine.

The decision from the on-field umpire wasn’t something Rishabh Pant liked at all before showing his frustration clearly on camera, throwing the ball away in disgust at the turn of events. The Indian cricket team was trying to get the ball changed on multiple occasions when England batters were bashing it to all corners of the ground during the first innings, but it didn’t happen for them at all.

Ultimately, when the new ball became due, Indian captain Shubman Gill took it immediately, which allowed the bowlers to get into the game, but at the same time, England scored quickly as well. The hosts were eventually bowled out for 465 runs in 100.4 overs during the post-lunch session of play on day two in response to India’s first innings total of 471 runs with Jasprit Bumrah taking his 14th five-wicket haul.
