After two of the most intense quarter-finals in men singles at Wimbledon Championships 2025, the fans expect an even more thrilling contest in the semi-final clash against the two titans of the game, Novak Djokovic versus Jannik Sinner. As he earned his semi-final ticket, Djokovic has created many records of his own, this was his 102nd match win in men’s singles at Wimbledon along with the most wins he has at a single ATP-level event. He also went past the record of former champion Roger Federer, who witnessed the Serbian superstar qualifying for his 14th Grand Slam semi-final appearance, with Federer holding the previous record of 13 such outings at this stage.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion beat Italian Flavio Cobolli 6-7(6-8), 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 on Centre Court. Djokovic was in for a rude jolt from Cobolli as he lost the opening set but bounced back the very next set. “It means the world to me that I’m still able at 38 to play the final stages of Wimbledon. Competing against youngsters like Cobolli makes me feel very young,” said Djokovic. He had an awkward slip on the grass while serving for victory, but assured the audience and the tennis world that it will not cause him any trouble ahead of his highly-anticipated showdown against the world No. 1 Jannik Sinner.

Jannik Sinner enters Wimbledon semis with straight sets win
Easing the concerns over his elbow issue, Jannik Sinner defeated Ben Shelton in straight sets win in 7-6(7-2), 6-4, 6-4 victory. Shattering some records, Sinner is now just one win away from a fourth straight Grand Slam final. The 23-year-old Italian is also the fifth youngest man to reach the semi-finals of three majors in consecutive seasons. He wore a protective sleeve on his right arm and seemed largely untroubled when he wrestled control of the first set tie-break and the other sets thereafter. “I am very happy about today’s performance. Playing against him is so difficult. You have chances, and then he serves very well. We get to know each other a bit better. I’m looking forward to these kind of battles,” remarked Sinner in the post-match conference as he lauded Ben Shelton.
Next up for him is a semi-final bout against Novak Djokovic. Sinner has won each of his last four meetings against him including the sem-final match of the French Open last month. In the final match of that tournament, he was beaten by Carloz Alcaraz when he blew a two-set lead and squandered three championship points.
