Christian Norgaard, the 31-year-old Danish international, who played for Brentford FC in the previous campaign has joined Arsenal. The midfielder became part of Brentford in the year 2021, and ever since his debut, Norgaard has made 201 interceptions in the league which is the most for any Premier League player during this period. Norgaard is a modern defensive-anchor player. His ability to break up play, intercept, tackle, block and win aerial duels have been key to his six successful seasons spent at Brentford. The Danish International is ready for a new chapter in his life at North London in the upcoming campaign after parting ways with the Bees.
Arsenal have officially announced on their media handles that they have completed the signing of Christian Norgaard from Brentford. Mikel Arteta had his eyes set on Norgaard as he is already a Premier league proven player. It has been reported that the transfer fee for the Danish Midfielder is around £11 million. The 31-year-old has joined the gunners on a two-year contract in order to boost Arsenal’s midfield options after the departure of the Ghanaian International Thomas Partey from the team.
Mikel Arteta is delighted by completing the signing of Christian Norgaard
The Danish International is Arteta’s third signing of the summer after the gunners managed to complete the signing of Spanish Internationals Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. Arteta stated, "Norgaard is a strong midfielder with excellent tactical awareness and versatility. He also has physical presence and intelligence, which will give us added depth and balance". Norgaard was also linked with a move to Spurs under his former manager Thomas Frank. However, Norgaard decided to join their arch rivals Arsenal in their quest for Silverware.
Christian Norgaard will add a lot of depth in Arsenal’s midfield alongside Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Martin Zubimendi, and Mikel Merino. Arsenal are keen on learning from their mistakes which cost them the Premier league in consecutive seasons and will hope that Christian Norgaard is the answer to all the questions asked by the opponents attack.
