The ongoing England versus India third Test at the Lord’s in London marked the return of one of England’s top notch bowlers after more than four years. Jofra Archer marked his return to the English Test squad after being ruled out for almost four years due to multiple injuries since February 2021. Archer had played for Sussex in the County Championship before replacing Josh Tongue for the Lord’s Test. On his return, he needed just three balls to show England what they have been missing during his four-year absence from Test cricket.
In his first over back in the English national team in Test cricket, Jofra Archer took the crucial wicket of the Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal with a peach of a delivery. On the third ball, Jaiswal tried to defend a good length delivery aimed at the stumps from Archer. However, he was caught on the second slip by Harry Brook. The crowd at the Lord’s erupted in celebration of the sensational wicket by Jofra Archer. Yashasvi Jaiswal was looking in good shape as he smashed three boundaries at the start of his innings, but he was left stunned by the top notch delivery from Archer.

Jofra Archer’s return boosts the morale of England national team
Jofra Archer put on a display of exceptional fast bowling on his return to the team and was clocking speeds in excess of 145 kmph. It just didn't feel like he was playing in this format after four years, boosting the morale of England national team after they posted a very good first innings score of 387 runs on the board. Notably, Archer burst onto the international scene in 2019 soon after switching his nationality in playing a major role in England’s victory over New Zealand in the ICC Cricket World Cup final.
Archer had been a major miss for England in the four years he was out injured from the Test team. Now that he has marked his return, England will look to utilise his skills as much as possible and will want him to deliver match-winning spells for his adopted country.
