During the first session on day three of the first Test match, Ben Stokes, the captain of England, was angry with himself after losing his wicket to Mohammed Siraj at Headingley in Leeds. In pursuit of India’s first innings total of 471 runs, England were in a good position with captain Ben Stokes and vice-captain Harry Brook building a decent partnership for the fifth wicket before Mohammed Siraj got the former caught behind on a wider delivery as wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant completed a simple catch.
The 51-run stand for the fifth wicket between Brook and Stokes was broken against the run of play by the Indian pacer, who hadn’t picked up any wickets at that point of time, leaving England 276/5, still 195 runs behind in the first innings. The sudden loss of his wicket left Ben Stokes frustrated, throwing the bat up in the air before apparently shouting a few expletives on camera.

But after the fall of Ben Stokes’ wicket for 20 off 52, England kept the momentum of the innings going with Harry Brook, who was joined by Jamie Smith in the middle. The sixth wicket partnership is currently unbeaten on 51 runs at lunch on day three with Brook on 57 off 77 and Smith 29 off 45 at the crease, looking to face up the second new ball in three overs’ time.
