Viktor Gyokeres, the Sweden international, is set to face a disciplinary action by his own club Sporting Lisbon after he didn’t report for pre-season training. The latest development was confirmed by Frederico Varandas, the President of Sporting Lisbon, who talked about how no player is above the interest of the club, and that’s why they are planning to fine the striker hefty apart from telling him to apologise to the group.

Notably, it was just last week when Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta held talks with Viktor Gyokeres face-to-face in Portugal, with an aim to sign him to the club. The Gunners made a £60 million offer including add-ons for the Sweden international to Sporting Lisbon, but it wasn’t accepted, but the talks are still ongoing with a potential deal going through still on the cards.

Everything can be solved with the closure of the market: Frederico Varnadas

At the same time, as per the report from BBC Sport, Frederico Varnadas stated that the potential transfer of Viktor Gyokeres to any other club has now become “more complicated”. Moreover, it was just last month when he spoke about how there was “no gentleman’s agreement” between them and Viktor Gyokeres for him to leave the club for £60 million, but they won’t be asking the entire release clause of £85 million in his current contract to let him go.

While speaking to Portuguese website Lusa, Frederico Varandas detailed the latest about the Viktor Gyokeres situation at the club, which read, “No one is above the interests of the club.... We're calm. Everything can be solved with the closure of the market, a hefty fine and an apology to the group. If they don't want to pay Viktor's fair market value, we'll be very comfortable with that for the next three years.”

During his career at Sporting Lisbon, Viktor Gyokeres has played a key role in helping them win the last two league titles in a row in Portugal with 97 goals in 102 matches in all competitions.
