It is turning out to be a thriller as India and England are taking on each other in the ongoing third Test of a five-match series between both the teams at Lords Cricket Ground in London. It has been a tough fight so far as both England and India got out on the same score in their respective first innings. After bowling England out for 387 runs, India were also bowled out for 387 runs in their first innings as none of the teams got a lead of even a single run in the first innings.
In the second innings, the Indian bowlers did a great job in the first session of day four as England were reduced to 87/4. Currently, Joe Root is taking the innings further along with skipper Ben Stokes as England are aiming for a big partnership and set a competitive target for India. However, star Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj might get in trouble after the match irrespective of whether India wins or loses the third Test against England.
Why Mohammed Siraj might get penalised by ICC after 3rd Test vs England?
Mohammed Siraj turned in a star performance for India on day four of the third Test against England at Lords. The right-arm pacer gave India first two breakthroughs as he first dismissed Ben Duckett in the sixth over followed by Ollie Pope’s dismissal in the 12th over of the innings. After dismissing Duckett in the sixth over, Siraj gave him an aggressive send off.
While Ben Duckett was going towards the pavilion after getting out, Mohammed Siraj came close to him and also unintentionally collided his shoulder with the English batter. As the Indian pacer came in physical contact with Duckett, he is likely to get penalised as per the ICC (International Cricket Council) Code of Conduct.
What does ICC Rule Say about aggressive send-offs in Cricket?
As per the article 2.5 of ICC Code of Conduct for players and support personnel, a players is restricted to give any aggressive reaction to a batter upon his dismissal that could provoke an aggressive reaction from the dismissed batter.
“Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match,” article 2.5 of ICC Code of Conduct states.
Now, as Mohammed Siraj gave an aggressive send off to Ben Ducket and even barged his shoulder to English batter whether unintentionally or intentionally, he might receive a heavy fine from his match fee by the ICC after the end of ongoing Test match against England at Lords.
