The domestic cricket league, which is played in Kerala, Sanju Samson was roped in by the Blue Tigers for a whopping sum of INR 26.8 Lakh.

The Kerala batter, who was left out of the state team in the domestic cricket tournaments, caught the attention of the Kochi Blue Tigers on the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) auction table on Saturday, July 5 as the splurged INR 26.8 Lakh to secure his services, making him the most expensive player in their auction history.

The Indian wicketkeeper-batter was listed at a base price of INR 3 Lakh. He saw an exponential jump to INR 5 Lakh, then to INR 10 Lakh in an intense bidding war. Eventually, the 30-year-old then went up to attract INR 26.8 Lakh, which saw the franchise spend more than half of their price purse on the keeper-batter.

With the major signing, Samson is now set to mark his first-ever appearance in the tournament which is overseen by the Kerala State Cricket Association (KSCA). In 2024, Samson opted for a break from the inaugural edition of the league despite being announced as its brand ambassador. The decision from the Indian wicketkeeper-batter came due to his international commitments with Team India.
