The second Test of the five-match series of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is currently underway at Edgbaston in Birmingham with India taking a 244-run lead at stumps on day three. However, the Men in Blue currently look on top in the second Test, they will hope to seal the match and level the series before going into the third Test, which is scheduled to be played from July 10 to 14 at Lord’s, London.
But while India continues to play England in the second Test, star Indian all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja caught attention after he was seen traveling to the stadium alone, separately. It is to be noted that as per the new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), no one is allowed to travel separately.
Ravindra unlikely to be punished for traveling separately under new SOPs of BCCI
It has come into notice that the star Indian cricketer, who scored 89 runs in the first innings, traveled separately to the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. As per ESPNcricinfo, however, Jadeja violated the BCCI rules, but is unlikely to face any sanctions as he had reached the stadium earlier than the rest of the team to get some extra batting practice before the match.
As per the BCCI SOPs, issued after India’s 1-3 defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, all team members are required to travel together in the team bus to and from the stadium in order to maintain discipline withing the team.
Speaking of Jadeja, the veteran Indian all-rounder had a forgettable outing in the opening Test, both with the bat as well as the ball. However, he stepped up in the second Test, scoring 89 off 137 balls at a strike rate of 64.96. During his stay in the middle, he hit 11 boundaries, 10 fours and a maximum. With the ball, Jadeja has so far gone wicketless in his 17-over spell in the first England innings.
