Team India's premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah looked stunning with the ball against England in the first innings of the third Test getting played at Lord’s in London. On the first day, Bumrah contained the flow of runs but got only one wicket, cleaning up Harry Brook. But then, on the second day, he spearheaded India’s fast-bowling unit confidently and delivered early blows to the hosts. In his second over of the day, he shattered a crucial stand of Joe Root and captain Ben Stokes by dismissing the latter. Stokes got cleaned up by the speedster. After Stokes, Root became Bumrah’s hunt as the latter’s delivery surpassed the 34-year-old’s bat and pad to crash into the middle stump.

After scalping Joe Root’s wicket, Jasprit Bumrah has become the most successful bowler against the English veteran in international cricket. A total of 15 times, Bumrah has got the better of Root in internationals. This was the 11th time Root fell against Bumrah while donning whites. Bumrah has also picked up Root’s wicket thrice in One-Day Internationals (ODI) and once in T20 International (T20I). He is now the only bowler to dismiss Root 15 times in international cricket.

Following the wicket of Root, the next delivery, when Chris Woakes came to bat, the 31-year-old didn’t give the batting all-rounder the time to settle as the English player got caught behind the stumps on his first delivery by Dhruv Jurel. Jofra Archer, who has made a Test comeback after three-and-a-half years, became Jasprit Bumrah’s fifth victim. A total of his five wickets, Bumrah got four of those by cleaning them up. Bumrah ended his 27-over spell with 5/74 figures. It is his maiden fifer at the iconic Lord's, and now, he will get his name etched on the Honours Board for the first-time in his career.
