
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) found itself in huge trouble as they have been exposed for financial irregularities and other illegal activities. The Auditor General of Pakistan came up with several financial irregularities from the board running into millions of rupees. Apart from that, the Auditor General report also exposed PCB for illegal appointments and award of contracts.
According to the audit report, there have been several instances of financial irregularities from the PCB which included a payment of 63.39 million rupees to police for providing meals and security during international matches. The board has also been accused for illegal appointment of three coaches in the under -16 age group at the high performance centre in Karachi with a total salary of 5.4 million rupees, along with illegal award of ticketing contests without any open competition.
PCB accused of appointing new Director Media in 2023 without any process
As mentioned in the audit report, the PCB are also exposed for overpayment to the match officials as match fees which was 3.8 million rupees. PCB also appointed a Director Media in October 2023 without any process. The openings for the position was revealed on August 17 but appointment, day of application, approval of appointment, issuance of appointment letter, signing of agreement and joining was all done on a same day on October 2 that year. The new Director Media was appointed for 9,00,000 salary per month.
Apart from that, there has also been a unauthorized payments of 4.17 million rupees to Chairman from February 2024 to June 2024. The payments came under utility charges, POL and accommodation. Notably, this is also not the first time that Audit General of Pakistan has found irregular financial activities by the PCB.
