Indian ODI skipper Rohit Sharma has an hilarious habit of forgetting things and has made headlines several times due to this habit. There have been a few occasions where Rohit couldn’t remember what to decide after winning the toss and and also forget his wallet or phone multiple times while leaving with the team. Now, Rohit revealed another incident where he almost made a blunder because of his habit while leading Mumbai Indians in the Champions League T20 in 2013.

Appearing in a Who’s The Boss podcast by Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra along with his wife Ritika Sajdeh, Rohit Sharma revealed how he opted to bat first even when the management decided to field first after winning the toss. However, MI ended up winning the match and Rohit’s decision turned out to be beneficial by accident.

"Once at 2013 CLT20 game, we had to do fielding, but after winning the toss I chose to bat first. So Anil bhai asked me, 'what did you do Rohit?'. I said, 'I saw that the pitch was good, so I chose to bat'. In reality I had forgotten what I was supposed to do and ended up saying wrong at the toss, but we won the match though,” Rohit said in a podcast.

If I go back 25 years in my life: Rohit Sharma focuses on living life with no regrets

Speaking further, Rohit Sharma said that he doesn’t want to live with regrets as he believes that one can only get what is destined to them. Rohit ended India’s 11-year ICC trophy droguht in his captaincy by leading Men in Blue to the T20 World Cup title in 2024. Nine months later, Rohit led India to the Champions Trophy triumph in his captaincy .

“Mujhe 2-3 interviews pe pucha gaya hai, what regrets you have in your life. Maine bola, kya regret? If I go back 25 years in my life, I know where I was and what my life was. There is no way I would've thought I would be sitting here with all the accolades and everything. Toh abhi jo bhi diya hai bhagwaan ne main khush hoon. Mujhe aage bhi pata hai log puchenge, aap yeh achieve kar sakte they, aapne yeh nahin kiya, woh nahin kiya. Nahin bhai, jitna likha hua hai, utna hee milna tha aapko, jitna bhagwaan ne diya main uska, I'm really grateful,” Rohit said.
