The Indian cricket team have started the five-match Test series with England in good fashion and it will be interesting to see what will unfold in the third Test in the five-test series as both the teams have won one match each till now. The head coach of Team India, Gautam Gambhir, has a plan set for execution against England and he will hope that the lads will play to their full potential in order to clinch the victory in this series under his mentorship. Gautam Gambhir explains the importance of first-class cricket in shaping the team in order to boost up the team’s performance to showcase their potential in important matches.
In his interview with Sony Sports Network, Gambhir had a chat with his former teammate and one of the greats of Test cricket Cheteshwar Pujara. He highlighted the significance of first-class cricket by saying, “For me, first-class cricket back at home in India is the most important format.” Gambhir stated this because he feels that it adds a lot of value to the cricketer and provides them with a lot of experience which potentially makes them a better cricketer in the future. He also highlighted that it is because of first-class cricket that such a great transition is occurring in the team.
Gambhir also told Pujara, as per TOI, “It is about growing, learning, and competing every day. It is about fighting every day. And it is about representing the tri-colour every day. Gautam Gambhir is not important, Indian cricket is important.”
Gambhir expresses that everyone should have a feedback on the team culture
Gautam Gambhir feels that everyone should be open to giving feedback in the dressing room which will prove to boost the culture in the team. The team should address any kind of concerns that they face so that they can give their best to the team.
Notably, the Indian head coach has faced a lot of pressure recently after only managing to win four out of the 12 tests they have played under his guidance. He feels that every player should give it his all for the nation as they are privileged to play for the nation. He would hope that the team finds a way to win this series and make the nation proud.
