India is currently locking horns in the third Test of the five-match series for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. While the hosts are coming after registering a win in the opening Test in Leeds, India leveled the series with a convincing 336-run win at Edgbaston in Birmingham. In the Lord’s Test, India will hope to restrict England at a low score and chase it and go 2-1 up in the series.
As the action resumed on day four of the third Test, Zak Crawley (2*) and Ben Duckett (0*) took the crease after putting two-run lead at stumps on day three. However, India got their first scalp in the opening minutes, the Men in Blue fielded without Rishabh Pant.
Dhruv Jurel replaces Rishabh Pant behind wickets on Day 4 of third Test
Pant, who played a 112-ball 74 in the first Indian innings, did not take the field on the fourth day. In his absence, Dhruv Jurel was seen donning the wicketkeeping gloves. However, no official communication was made in this regard by the Indian team management, but comes seeing him nurse a finger injury.
It is to be noted that Pant was hit on the finger while collecting the ball from Jasprit Bumrah on the opening day and walked off the field. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) later took to X, writing, “Rishabh Pant is still recovering from the hit on his left index finger. The BCCI medical team continues to monitor his progress. Dhruv Jurel will continue to keep wickets on Day 2.”
