The highly-anticipated five-match Test series between England and India kickstarted on Friday, June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. The opening day of the first Test of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy saw India dominated. After being put to bat first by the home side, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul stitched a 91-run stand for the opening wicket. However, KL Rahul departed in the dying minutes of the first session, debutant Sai Sudharsan also departed on a four-ball duck.

Thereafter, Jaiswal was joined by the Indian skipper, Shubman Gill, who stitched 129-run stand to put India in a commanding position. However, Jaiswal departed at 101, Gill extended his stay, ending the day with 127* to his name. He also stitched a crucial stand with Rishabh Pant, who smashed his seventh Test hundred on Day 2 of the first Test.

With Team India eyeing to put a mammoth total on board, the weather also proves to be pivotal for a proper 90-over game in the day. Although, so far the first Test hasn’t seen any hours being lost due to bad weather, day three is also expected to be sunny and breezy. The day is expected to see the temperature vary from 17 to 18 degree Celsius during the day. There could be intervals of cloud and sunshine with a couple of showers in the day, according to the listings on Accuweather.

If we see the forecast for the day (June 23), the probability of precipitation stands at 84%, however, the chances of thunderstorm lie at 17% with cloud cover expected to be around 66%. But if we bifurcate the day into morning and afternoon, the temperature is expected to range between 17-18 degree Celsius with the probability of precipitation expected to be at 25%.

However, it is set to remain the same during the day, the cloud cover is expected to see a rise from 63% to 93%. With strong wind gusts, the showers are likely to go away quickly. If it is the case, then the fans could expect an uninterrupted day’s play in the England versus India first Test at Headingley.
