In Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 getting played at the New Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have struck Punjab Kings (PBKS). Winning the toss, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar elected to field first and his bowlers delivered an ideal start in the game. Yash Dayal got rid of Priyansh Arya while Bhuvneshwar Kumar trapped dangerous Prabhsimran Singh in the third over of the game. In the crunch situation, expectations were high from Kings’ captain Shreyas Iyer but he failed to handle Josh Hazlewood, who delivered the third breakthrough to his side.
The lanky speedster again hit PBKS in the sixth over and this time, his victim was his Australia teammate and compatriot Josh Inglis. His sensational bowling along with others helped Challengers push Punjab on the backfoot. Noting the veteran Aussie’s sensational comeback after the injury, netizen have gone berserk as they have started calling him Hazlegod. Taking to X, a user named Vikash Singh wrote, “Call Him HazleGOD. #RCBvsPBKS RCB RCB.”
Here are some of the fan reactions on X as PBKS batting collapsed against RCB:
PBKS in immense trouble in IPL 2025 Qualifier 1
PBKS are in a frail condition currently as they have lost eight batters at a score of 83 after 12 overs. Following the early collapse, hopes were high from Marcus Stoinis, who was expected to stand at the crease and stabilise the innings but he also failed to hold his nerves and fell against Suyash Sharma eventually.
Former Australia all-rounder could score only 26 off 17. Suyash’s introduction into the bowling attack has made the matter worse for Punjab as he has grabbed three wickets thus far after bowling only two overs in the game. Currently, Azmatullah Omarzai (unbeaten five off six) and Harpreet Brar (unbeaten three off seven) are at the crease for Punjab.
