It’s always fun and fantastic to see established keeper-batters rise to the forefront of run scoring when the team needs it. This was the situation this time around as well with the first and opening Test of India currently underway in England at Headingley. And guess what, one noted talent has delivered for his team. Having said that which keeper-batters have struck most Test hundreds for India in the longer format?

Wriddhiman Saha - 3 Test hundreds

The wicketkeeping-batter, who played Test cricket for India, holds the record for being involved in a dogged, courageous Test stand with Cheteshwar Pujara against Australia, in terms of being one of the longest Test stands for Team India in terms of deliveries faced, which was nearly a decade back in time.

But with the bat, Saha a useful lower order batsman was no slouch either.

With a highest score of 117, Saha hit three Test hundreds during the course of a career that lasted 40 games.

MS Dhoni - 6 Test hundreds

With no fewer than 144 Test innings next to his name that included 16 not outs, the legendary former captain and wicketkeeping-batter also scored 6 Test hundreds and on the whole; north of 4800 runs.

Although his last century came in 2013, it would actually yield a career best score in Test match cricket of 224, and that too, against the mighty and dominant Australian team. This was hit in Chennai, one of Dhoni’s homes in the sense that over the years the right hander became a cult hero of the CSK side.

But 6 tons to his name isn’t a bad tally, at all, is it?

Rishabh Pant - 7* Test hundreds

In scoring a dazzling Test century just a few minutes ago in this opening Test between England and India, Pant has reached a record in that of scoring 7 Test match centuries and so, overtaking MS Dhoni, the former captain and icon of Indian cricket.

Pant arrived in England with great intent and wanted to prove his role in the side as a senior player especially now with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli already ex-Test cricketers. It can be said, he has done that with his 134 off 178.
