In match number 65 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, May 23. With the playoffs berths already sealed, the Hyderabad-based franchise are playing for pride, whereas the Bengaluru-based franchise are eyeing the top of the table finish.
For the unversed, RCB won the toss and invited SRH to bat first. On the back of an unbeaten 94-run knock from wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, the visitors posted massive 232-run target on board. Kishan’s innings included seven fours and five maximums at a strike rate of 195.83.
Why Ishan Kishan did not take the field in RCB’s run-chase?
After his memorable innings with the bat in IPL 2025, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter did not take the field for the second innings. Before the start of the second innings, commentator Harsha Bhogle then revealed the reason behind Ishan Kishan’s absence from the field. The sports presentor on air said, “Ishan Kishan is not on the field as he has got a dehydration so a substitute fielder comes on in his place.” In his absence, Heinrich Klaasen donned the wicketkeeping gloves for SRH as they began they defended 231 runs.
Speaking of Ishan Kishan, after an unbeaten 94 against RCB, he raced to 325 runs in 12 innings at an average of 36.11 and a strike rate of 153.30. This proved to be his second best knock this season after an unbeaten 106 off 47 deliveries against Rajasthan Royals (RR), earlier in the tournament.
