In the match 69th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, with top two spots at stake, Punjab Kings (PBKS) made a big change in their playing squad against Mumbai Indians (MI), leaving out Azmatullah Omarzai, to bring in Kyle Jamieson. While PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer didn’t give a reason for the change in the lineup during toss time at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the poor performance just a couple of days ago from the Afghan international could have played a part in it.
This is a must-win game for both PBKS and MI, to not only secure their spot in the top two of the standings, but also get a couple of cracks at making it through to the final of the IPL 2025. Apart from leaving out Azmatullah Omarzai entirely from the matchday squad, PBKS also brought back Vijaykumar Vyshak on the impact substitutes bench after his impressive death bowling earlier in the season.
As far as Mumbai Indians are concerned, the team management brought in Ashwani Kumar on the impact substitutes bench, with a potential of him being a part of the bowling lineup when they defend the total later in the piece. The left-arm pacer has already delivered a couple of fantastic performances with the ball for MI, especially his four-wicket haul during a win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium earlier in the IPL 2025 season.
Below are the playing squads of PBKS and MI for their IPL 2025 clash:
