Ishant Sharma and Virat Kohli have played a lot of cricket together. Both were teammates while representing Delhi in India’s domestic cricket. They also played alongside in the Under-17 level and Team India. The amiable equation between both is often seen on the field when they compete against each other. Recently, Kohli retired from international Test cricket after serving India for 14 years in the format. With Gujarat Titans (GT) are all set to take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in the blockbuster Sunday clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Ishant appeared on ‘Star Sports Press Room’ and was asked about his friendship with Kohli.
The veteran speedster recounted his old days when he created a lot of moments while playing with Kohli. “When we were in the U-19s, we used to count how much money we had. We used to eat food. When we used to go to the U-19s, we used to save our TAs and take them with us. So, Virat Kohli is different for everyone. He is different for me,” said Ishant.
Ishant Sharma says his bond with Virat Kohli hasn’t changed despite the latter’s stardom
Ishant Sharma also said that his equation with Kohli hasn’t changed despite the iconic batter’s massive stardom. "Imagine, your brother has reached such heights. Everyone is thinking that he is great. But you will see that at the end of the day, he is a human being. At the end of the day, you have spent a lot of time with him. You know him in and out. You know where he has come from, how he is and how he is not," added Ishant.
RCB are currently the leaders of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 points table with 17 points with 12 matches while GT are following them at the second spot on the tally. The Titans have so far accumulated 16 points in 11 contests. If both teams end up at the top two of the league round, both Kohli and Ishant might be seen competing against each other in the first Qualifier, scheduled to be played on May 29.
