On Wednesday, April 30, Yuzvendra Chahal took the second hat-trick of his Indian Premier League (IPL) career while playing for Punjab Kings (PBKS) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2025 season. The right-arm leg spinner took the wickets of Deepak Hooda, Anshul Kamboj, and Noor Ahmad in the final three deliveries of the 19th over of the CSK innings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, to become the third bowler in IPL history to take multiple hat-tricks.

After being smashed for a lot of runs in his first two overs, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer held Yuzvendra Chahal’s over back, and he decided to introduce him into the attack in the 19th over of the CSK innings. After MS Dhoni smashed him for a six on the first ball, it looked as if Yuzvendra Chahal would have a bad day at the office, but things started to change as he dismissed the CSK captain on the next ball, trying to hit another maximum, but only finding Nehal Wadhera at long-off.

Watch the video here:

Deepak Hooda scored a couple on the first ball faced by him before he tried to hit a boundary on the off-side, only to spoon it to the fielder at the backward point region. On the next ball, Yuzvendra Chahal cleaned up Anshul Kamboj before a flighted delivery from him made Noor Ahmad go for a big shot, only to find Marco Jansen, who had to run a few meters off the line from long-on, to hand the leg spinner yet another hat-trick in IPL.

Before Yuzvendra Chahal, only Amit Mishra and Yuvraj Singh had picked up multiple hat-tricks in IPL history, three and two respectively. The Indian bowler had picked his first hat-trick in IPL in the 2022 season while playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai nearly three years ago.
