In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Qualifier 2, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) are taking on former champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahemdabad on Sunday, June 1. While the teams will be hoping to get a win to their name in order to get closer to the title as the winner faces Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the same venue on Tuesday, June 3.

For the unversed, PBKS skipper, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first. With rain marring the start of the game, MI later took the crease and posted a competitive score of 203/6 in their stipulated 20 overs. In reply, while chasing the mammoth total, PBKS got some early jolts as the top order was dismissed inside the eight overs.

PBKS skipper, Shreyas Iyer looked composed in the middle as he stitched a crucial stand with Nehal Wadhera, who survived two chances. With 95 runs needed off the last seven overs, Hardik Pandya brought back Reece Topley into the attack. While Nehal Wadhera went for a single on the first delivery, Iyer, who then took the strike, and smashed the English international for three back-to-back sixes.

Topley opted to bowl a short of a length delivery which Iyer smashed over the man for a maximum. Topley then bowled a half-volley outside off and Shreyas Iyer this time moved forward and cleaned it over long-on for another maximum. A similar delivery coming on the very next ball, Iyer didn’t hesitate and lofted it into the sightscreen, completing hat-trick of sixes.

At the conclusion of the 13th over, PBKS raced to 128/3 with Shreyas Iyer (37 off 20) and Nehal Wadhera (27 off 18) in the middle.
