In the ongoing second Test between India and England at Edgbaston, Ravindra Jadeja looked sensational with his bat and assisted his captain Shubman Gill to stabilise the team’s innings. On the first day of the game, India saw themselves under pressure after losing five wickets at a score of 211. In the crunch situation, skipper Shubman Gill required an ally who could stand with him in the middle and build a solid stand. Jadeja held his nerves and displayed his mettle. The southpaw erected an effective 203-run partnership with Gill and helped India have a commanding position in the match.

On the second day, both Gill and Jadeja went out and added 104 runs together in just 135 balls to help the visitors post 414 runs on board. Jadeja looked in fine touch but he was outmanoeuvred by pacer Josh Tongue, who bowled a bouncer and got the veteran caught at the hands of wicket-keeper Jamie Smith. Jadeja’s innings ended at his score of 89 off 137. His knock was studded with 11 boundaries (10 fours and a maximum). Jadeja missed the chance to notch up his third Test hundred against England. His last two Test tons came against the English team.
