Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are currently playing against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Thursday, May 22, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad in the 64th match of the IPL 2025 season. After being put to bat first, LSG have had an explosive start to the innings with the top three batters feasting on the GT bowlers.
The standout performer amongst them has been Mitchell Marsh, who has gotten his well-deserved maiden IPL century for his batting brilliance. During the 12th over, Marsh completely demolished GT’s prime spinner Rashid Khan by smashing 25 runs in a single over. A fine selection of shots saw Marsh dispatch two sixes, three fours and a single to end what was a disastrous over for Rashid Khan.

Nicholas Pooran scores 23-ball half-century against GT
At the time of writing, LSG have already scored 194 in the first 17 overs. Mitch Marsh’s century has been well complimented by other LSG batters like Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran. Markram scored a quickfire 36 to put up a 91-run partnership with Marsh for the first wicket. Pooran has also got into the hitting grove immediately after coming on as he has reached his half-century in just 23 balls, smashing four sixes and four fours at a smashing strike-rate of 217.39.
Marsh’s solid batting has been instrumental to LSG’s big score in the first innings and his heroics against Rashid Khan with 25 runs hit in one over underscored his amazing hitting ability. As LSG’s bowling attack will gear up to face GT’s strong batting unit characterized by names Shubman Gill, Sai Kishore and Jos Butler, they will be grateful that the batting unit has provided a big score to defend.
