On Monday, May 26, Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by seven wickets in a convincing manner with nine balls to spare in match 69 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After restricting MI to a below par total of 184 runs, the top order batters of PBKS, Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglis produced exceptional 50-plus knocks, to take their team over the line with relative ease and seal the top of the table position.

After the match, in a shocking moment which caught the attention of the viewers was MI skipper Hardik Pandya ignoring PBKS captain, Shreyas Iyer. The awkward moment unfolded as the two teams walked for the customary handshake, hinting at tensions between the two franchise leaders after the fiery battle on the field.

As soon as the match concluded in Jaipur after PBKS chased down the total in 18.3 overs, Shreyas Iyer, who scored an unbeaten 26 off 16 and his teammate, Nehal Wadhera (2* off2), walked for the customary handshake. In the process, cameras showed the MI all-rounder walk past Iyer not just once, but twice without acknowledging him. Although, Iyer did extend his hand, Pandya looked the other way. However, the video has been making rounds on social media, it is not known whether it was deliberate or in the heat of the moment.

Rohit Sharma mimics Shreyas Iyer’s walk after MI’s defeat

In another hilarious moment from match 69 of the IPL 2025, former MI skipper, Rohit Sharma was seen imitating Shreyas Iyer’s signature walk. However, the moment came after the conclusion of the match, the five-time champions, have taken to social media to share Rohit’s playful dig at his fellow Mumbai batter, leaving everyone in splits.

While the result might not have gone the way of Mumbai Indians, they will face either of Gujarat Titans (GT) or Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Eliminator on Friday, May 30, whereas, Punjab Kings will take on the second placed team at the end of the league stage in Qualifier 1 on Thursday, May 29.
