As India will take on England for a five-match Test series starting on June 20, they will miss the services of their key seniors players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin as all the three players have called off their respective Test careers. However, few members of the current Indian Test team reportedly reunited with Kohli ahead of the much-awaited Test series.
As per the reports by RevSportz, Virat Kohli invited a few players from the Indian team to his house in London including the likes of new Test captain Shubman Gill, vice-captain Rishabh Pant and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj. It was casual get together where Kohli spent some time with the players while the Indian players were also having a chill time ahead of an high intense Test series starting in a few days.
India aim Test series win in England after 18 years
India last won a Test series in England in 2007 under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid by 1-0. After that, India went on to tour England in 2011, 2014, 2018 and 2021-22 but couldn’t repeat the 2007 triumph. They were whitewashed by the hosts England by 0-4 in 2011 and lost by 1-3 in 2014, followed by a 1-4 loss in 2018. They went on to draw the series by 2–2 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah (for the fifth rescheduled Test) in 2021-22.
Now, under new captain Shumban Gill, India will be looking to break the curse of 18 years and win a Test series in England after 18 years. The first Test match of the series will be played at Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds from June 20 to 24. The series is scheduled to be played from June 20 to August 4.
