The stage is set for the biggest night of the European footballing calendar as the world gets ready to witness the magic of the UEFA Champions League final. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are set to take on Inter Milan on June 1, 2025, 12:30 AM IST, at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany. A season-long collection of breathtaking action and glory has finally culminated into this wonderful night as these two European giants get ready to battle for the ultimate prize.

PSG under the management of Luis Enrique is dreaming of lifting their maiden UCL trophy while Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan will look to seal their fourth UCL title. PSG have an even bigger laurel to lay their hands upon as they can also achieve their first-ever treble, having already won the Ligue 1 trophy and the Coupe De France (French Domestic Cup). Inter Milan are in fact coming off a domestic heartbreak as they lost out on the 2024-25 Serie A title by a single point to rivals Napoli on the final match-day.

Road to Munich 2025

This year marks the first ever UCL campaign under the new format where teams are not divided in groups for the league stage but instead compete for the top 24 rankings amongst 36 teams across eight matchdays. PSG arguably had one of the toughest group-stage draws with fixtures against big names like Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City etc. They barely scrapped past the group stage with four wins, one draw and three losses and finished 15th on the table with 13 points. However, their resurgence and dominance in the knockout stages, saw them eliminate heavyweights like Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal on their way to the final.

As for Inter Milan, they were the silent warriors in the Champions League, as Inzaghi’s men went un-noticed and dropped brilliant performances day in and day out. During the group-stage, Milan won six out of their eight matches, and in an astonishing feat, they only conceded one goal in those eight matches. During the knockouts, Milan overpowered Bayer Munich and the arguably favourites FC Barcelona in a 13-goal thriller.

PSG vs Inter Milan head-to-head

Both these clubs have faced each other six times, with PSG having the upper-hand with three victories. Inter Milan have secured two wins, while one match has ended in a draw. Interestingly, of all these matches, only one game was a competitive match, whilst all other were club friendlies. In fact, these two teams have never faced each other in the Champions League as well. PSG’s dynamic attacking unit will be tested against Inter Milan’s resolute defensive structure and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in this high-stakes encounter.
