Young Indian batter, Tilak Varma is all set to get some red-ball exposure as he is set to feature in the upcoming County Championship season after joining his association with the Hampshire County Club. The 22-year-old, who has been brilliant with the bat in the shortest format of the game, T20Is, is now set to get some red-ball game time under his belt with his Hampshire stint.

Varma, who recently featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with the Mumbai Indians, will hope to get some runs under his belt. It is to be noted that in the 2025 edition of the IPL, the 22-year-old scored 343 runs in 16 matches at an average of 31.18 and a strike rate of 138.30. While he registered two fifty-plus scored, his highest of 59 coming against Delhi Capitals.

Tilak Varma to play four four-day games in County Championship

The left-handed Hyderabad-born will ply his trade for the English county club for close to two months from June 18 till August 2 after he was granted a NOC by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). Furthermore, it has to be seen that during his stint, he’ll feature in four four-day games .

"The Hyderabad Cricket Association is happy to inform that Hyderabad International player Mr. N Thakur Tilak Varma has been approached by the team Hampshire County to play in the UK County Championship League. The Hyderabad Cricket Association wishes him a great stint with Hampshire County," the HCA confirmed this development through a statement.

So far, varma has played 18 first class games, where he has scored 1204 runs at an average of over 50 with five centuries and four half centuries. Being a white-ball specialist, he has represented India in four ODIs and 25 T20Is with a particularly healthy average of close to 50 (49.93) average in T20Is (749 runs in 24 innings) and a strike rate of 155.
