With the senior Indian men’s cricket team currently locking horns with England in a five-match series in the United Kingdom (UK), their next big assignment was set to be in Bangladesh. However, the white-ball series against Bangladesh, which was scheduled to be played in August was pushed back to 2026, they could play Sri Lanka in that window.

It is to be noted that India was set to tour Bangladesh for a white-ball series consisting of three ODIs and as many T20Is, but it was officially postponed to September 2026 due to the political situation in the neighbouring nation. While that window now remains empty, sources have reported that India could travel to Sri Lanka.

India likely to tour Sri Lanka in August 2025

Reports quoting NewWire have stated that India could travel to Sri Lanka for a white-ball series next month. However, the series is not a part of the Future Tour Programme (FTP), but with both teams having a free window, they could be seen locking horns in six white-ball matches.

Initially, while India was set to travel to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka was set to host the Lanka Premier League in the July-August window, which now stands postponed. Seeing this, local media has reported that the talks between Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) are on at the moment and an official statement is likely to come out soon.
