Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul turned out to be the stars for India day four of the ongoing first Test against England at Headingley, Leeds. After India were reduced to 92/3 in the second innings, the duo put up a partnership of 195 runs for the fourth wicket as India gave England a target of 371 runs to win. Rahul, who got out for 42 runs in the first innings, went on to complete his hundred in the second innings. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant became the first Indian wicketkeeper to hit centuries in both innings of a Test match, including his 134 runs in the first innings followed by 118-run knock in the second innings.

One of the common things between Rahul and Pant is that both the wicketkeeper batters have captained Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League. Rahul led LSG from 2022 to 2024 before he was released and replaced by Pant ahead of IPL 2025. LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka made headlines when he was seen furious at Rahul due to LSG”s poor performance in IPL 2024. However, LSG also couldn’t perform well in IPL 2025 under Pant’s captaincy as well. Apart from that, Pant also had a poor season with the bat apart from his hundred in LSG’s final league game.

Now post it again without crying: Fans react as Sanjiv Goenka shares congratulatory messages for Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul

Reacting to the brilliant batting by both the India batters, Sanjiv Goenka shared a post on X in appreciation for Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul for their respective hundreds. The LSG owner wrote “Two good! Back-to-back centuries for @RishabhPant17. Aggressive, audacious, brilliant. Only the second wicketkeeper in history to score a century in both innings of a Test” on his X post.

“Congratulations also to @klrahul for his hundred. #INDvsENG” Goenka further wrote. However, as soon as Goenka shared a post on X, the fans came up with hilarious replies on the post.

Talking about the match, India were bowled out for 364 runs in the second innings leading by 370 runs. This means that England now need 3721 runs to win and take a lead of 1-0 in a five-match series.
