Sai Sudharsan, who is expecting to make his international Test debut for India in the upcoming weeks, has opened up about the lessons he got from Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) veteran Virat Kohli recently. Sudharsan was in amazing form for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, winning the Orange Cap for scoring most runs as an individual batter in the tournament. In the T20 extravaganza, he accumulated 759 runs with a hundred and six fifties in 15 matches.
Sudharsan, who is part of Team India camp currently, disclosed that he congratulated Kohli on his IPL team’s maiden title success. The youngster also revealed what Kohli advised him before the massive red-ball series in England, to start from June 20. "I just congratulated him (Virat Kohli) after the final. It was a very special moment for him. But I've had a lot of conversations in previous years. What I've always admired about him is his mindset — the obsession that he has for the sport. I have spoken with him regarding those and how he dealt with situations when he was not getting a lot of runs and finding it difficult. I think, as a cricketer, those are the times that you learn most, so I had conversations about that," said Sudharsan.
Sai Sudharsan praises Shubman Gill ahead of England Test tour
Sai Sudharsan has also hailed his captain Shubman Gill for his confidence, mindset and potential. Both Gill and Sudharsan have played a lot of cricket together for Titans in the cash-rich league.
"The biggest thing is the mindset, self-belief, the trust that he (Gill) has in his ability. I've seen how he manages himself when he's not getting runs — that understanding of the game and life to maintain consistency. Then there are technical discussions as well which are also helpful," remarked Sudharsan. Gill, as skipper, will look to help India complete their pursuit of Test series triumph in England after 18 years.
