Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Sandeep Sharma has been ruled out of the remainder of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. During the encounter against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on April 28, the speedster picked up a finger injury. Despite the fractured finger, Sandeep completed his four-over quota and registered 1/33 figures in the game. Sandeep is a vital member of RR’s pace attack along with Jofra Archer. This year, he has bagged nine wickets in 10 outings at an economy of 9.89, with the best figures of 2/21 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mullanpur on April 5.

Prior to the crucial game against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Jaipur, RR released an official statement which divulged that the 31-year-old won’t be able to show up in RR’s upcoming matches, after sustaining a fractured finger. "Sandeep Sharma has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a fracture in his finger. He showed immense bravery to continue bowling with this injury in the last match and everyone at the franchise wishes him a full and speedy recovery," read RR’s official statement.

RR are clashing against MI in do-or-die contest in IPL 2025

For Royals, the contest against MI is do-or-die. Both teams are confronting each other for the first time in this marquee T20 event. RR, who have bagged three wins and seven losses in their 10 outings thus far, will have to beat Mumbai to keep their playoffs alive. MI, on the other hand, are looking to vanquish RR and solidify their chances for the next round.

In their last five matches, Mumbai have played magnificently under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. Competing in the big game against each other, RR have elected to bowl after winning the toss. As of writing, MI are 99/0 in 10 overs, with Rohit Sharma (unbeaten 42 off 27) and Ryan Rickelton (unbeaten 55 off 33) at the crease.
