The five-match Test series for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between England and India is standing 2-1 in favour of the hosts after the conclusion of the third Test at the Lord’s on Monday, July 14. The Ben Stokes-led Three Lions, held their nerves in a pressure situation, restricting the visitors to 170 in the final chase to register a 22-run win and go 2-1 up in the series.

While the match hung in balance until the final day with India needing 135 runs whereas England needed six wickets. In this, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer led the bowling attack, picking three wickets each, along with two coming from Brydon Carse and Shoaib Bashir and Chris Woakes getting one each to their name. On the other hand, for India, Ravindra Jadeja played a warrior knock of 61*, but failed to chase the target with wickets falling at the other end.

Rishabh Pant likely to be fit for fourth Test vs England in Manchester

The pulsating third Test, apart from drama, banters and some scintillating game, also saw some players sustaining injuries. While Shoaib Bashir fractured his finger while collecting the ball on the third day, the Indian camp too had Rishabh Pant struggling with a finger injury, which he sustained on the opening day. As a result of the same, Pant refrained from keeping the wickets and saw Dhruv Jural stand-in for him.

“Team India vice-captain Rishabh Pant got hit on his left index finger. He is receiving treatment at the moment and is under the supervision of the medical team. Dhruv Jurel is currently keeping wickets in Rishabh’s absence,” the BCCI had said. While he did walk out to bat in both the innings, he had a real struggle finding rhythm.

Seeing him in pain after regular blows on his finger, Team India captain, Shubman Gill was inquired of the same in the post-match press conference. When asked, Gill responded, "Rishabh went for scans. There is no major injury so he should be fine for fourth Test in Manchester," thus giving a sigh of relief to the Indian fans.

With the series 2-1 in favour of England, the Men in Blue will hope to bounce back in the fourth Test with Pant back fit and available, starting from July 23 at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. The Indian camp will also have to ponder on Jasprit Bumrah’s availability, as the team management is working on his workload management.
