The IPL 2025 ended with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lifting their maiden title after 18 years. RCB defeated Punjab Kings in the final of the tournament at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3. Both the teams didn’t win a title before the final and the stage was set for a new champion this year. In the title match, RCB defeated PBKS by six runs, finally ended their wait of 18 years.
As RCB and Virat Kohli finally won an IPL title, it turned out to be a huge event not just among the fans but also with the numbers as the final of IPL 2025 became the most watched T20 game in the history of cricket. On Television, the final recorded 169 million viewers and a watch-time of 15 billion minutes. Meanwhile, on digital platforms around 892 million users watched the IPL final at 55 million peak concurrency, and 16.74 billion minutes of watch-time.
JioHotstar reported 29% surge from last year
JioHotstar, the official digital streaming partner for IPL 2025 reported a 29% surge in the digital viewership as compared to the last year. Apart from that, IPL’s live-broadcast partners Star Sports recorded an unprecedented 456 billion minutes of live broadcast on the final.
CEO of Sports and Live Experiences at JioStar, Sanjog Gupta shared his thoughts on the records breaking IPL 2025 final in Ahmedabad. “The incredible viewership numbers show us how much fans love the IPL," Gupta said as quoted in Cricket Addictor.
"This season, we focused on offering something for everyone — from new viewers watching casually, to hardcore fans who don’t miss a ball. Our aim was to make the experience more personalised, interactive and inclusive for all,” he further added.
