Liverpool have reportedly agreed a deal worth £40 million to sign Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth in the ongoing summer transfer window, to bolster their defensive ranks next season. The 21-year-old is going to join the defending Premier League champions after playing two seasons of top-flight football with Bournemouth, helping them finish ninth in the competition with 56 points, which is a club record tally.

In the beginning stages of the summer transfer window, Liverpool have already completed the signing of right-back from The Netherlands Jeremie Frimpong in a £29.5 million deal from Bayer Leverkusen. BBC Sport, who had already broken a story on an agreement in place between Liverpool and aforementioned German club for midfielder Florian Wirtz worth £116 million, have now reported that the Milos Kerkez deal with Bournemouth is about to go through.

Milos Kerkez played all 38 matches in the Premier League for Bournemouth last season

In his young career, Milos Kerkez already has experience of travelling the world, playing for the likes of AC Milan in Italy and AZ Alkmaar in The Netherlands after starting his senior career in his homeland of Hungary with Gyor. The current sporting director of Liverpool, Richard Hughes, is understood to have played an instrumental role in getting the signing of Milos Kerkez done after bringing him in to Bournemouth in the summer of 2023.

During the 2024-25 season of the Premier League, Milos Kerkez played all the 38 matches in the Premier League, scoring two goals and providing six assists in the campaign. With 23 international appearances already under his belt for Hungary along with his club football experience, he could be a long-term signing for Liverpool in their bid to keep winning trophies in future seasons.
